If you are having trouble connecting to the Internet, try some of the below methods for troubleshooting:
Connections:
1. Check that all cables attached to the router and computer
are secure
2. Turn off all devices. First, turn off the modem and unplug it from the power
outlet. Next, turn off the wireless router. The wireless router power button
is located on the back of the router. Then turn off the computer.
3. Plug the modem in and turn it on. Wait two minutes.
4. Turn on the wireless router. Wait one minute.
5. Turn on the computer.
If this does not restore your connection, try bypassing the router and connecting directly to your computer. Unplug your router and wait 30 seconds to one minute before plugging it back in. If you can connect to the Internet, turn off your modem and computer. Reconnect your router.
Release / Renew IP:
1. Click on Start > Run > type cmd and click
OK
2. On the command prompt, type ipconfig/release and press Enter
3. On the next command prompt, type ipconfig/renew and press Enter
4. Check if your computer obtains an property IP address other than 169.254.x.x
or 0.0.0.0
5. If the problem continues, Power cycle router and computer:
1. Turn off the computer and turn off router
2. Turn on router and turn on computer
6. Make sure you have entered the correct security key when connecting to a
secured wireless network. Tip: Disable the security on the AP/router and try
connecting again.
Firmware:
1. Download and install the latest software for your device
Security Settings:
1. Each wireless device must have the same settings:
2. SSID : This is case sensitive.
3. Channel: The wireless channels are 1 to 11
4. Mode: The wireless mode should be set to either ad hoc or infrastructure.
5. Encryption- you have these options for encryption:
* Don't use any
* Use WEP
* Use WPA
* Enable wireless access point
6. When configuring a router:
* The user name must include a whole address like smartsue@isp.com— NOT
just "smartsue"
* After making changes, click Apply
7. If you have enabled security and have problems connecting, disable security
by setting encryption to "None" and try connecting again.
